They drove from Georgia, a round-trip that ended up being about 3,100 miles and nearly 6 days on the US roadways. Between books on tape, stops at fun places like the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene, Kansas, snow and windstorms, they kept entertained. Thank you Dad and Lindey for making the trip :-).
Once they arrived, we had a great time together. Most of our time was spent renovating Luke and Nathan's bedrooms, see the next post and photos :-). But we also found time to have fun!
Bruce, Dad, Luke and Nathan enjoyed their cowboy selves by attending the 58th Annual Skyline Stampede Rodeo at the Colorado State University's Equine Center. They sat front row to all of the activities eating popcorn, and at one time, almost had a BIG bull jump the wall and end in their laps. WOW, that would have made for a memory, don't you think?
We treated ourselves to an adult evening at a restaurant here in Fort Collins called "The Melting Pot." It was a memorable evening! The staff at the restaurant made us feel like family. For four hours, we drank good wine, ate great food and enjoyed enlightening conversation.
Finally, we spent a rainy and cold Easter Sunday at the Sylvan Dale Ranch outside of Loveland toward Estes Park. I shared a lot of the kid's photos in an earlier post, but wanted to share this favorite photo of Luke, Nathan, Mimi and Papa at the Ranch. One of the ongoing highlights of our visit was having Bella here. She is a great dog and the boys absolutely loved taking Bella for walks around the neighborhood, throwing Bella's toys to her in the back yard and just sitting with her on the floor while they watched T.V. Our cat, Lili Mae, hung in there by living in our master bedroom most of the time. There were two times when Lili Mae ventured downstairs and took a very close look at Bella as she slept up on the chair, and one time when Bella chased Lili Mae around the dining room table only to lose her as she raced upstairs. All in all, it went so well that we are now talking about getting a dog of our own :-).
I'm so glad you guys had such a great visit! The boys' rooms look great!
