What an accomplishment for Bruce this week!!! Bruce has been hired (despite the current hiring freeze) as the new, and first ever, Web Marketing Coordinator with the Advancement and Strategic Initiatives department within Central Administration at Colorado State University. I know that this is a long title, but it comes down to this: Bruce is THE MAN that will create, coordinate and launch a fundraising web marketing plan that will entail working with the President of CSU, The CSU Foundation (those that manage all the university's investments), all the different colleges and institutions of CSU, as well as the alumni and students. This job is starting at 25% time, but well within a day it was already increased to 30%. The VP of Advancement and Strategic Initiatives is so excited about what Bruce has to offer, and with the bad economy fundraising from alumni is paramount, that they hope to have Bruce on full-time by the end of the year. But first and foremost, Bruce is a an EMPLOYEE of CSU...Yippee!
With respect to his current position at the Institute of the Built Environment, it looks great on this front too. Brian, the Chair of the Institute, has reached an agreement with the higher ups and Bruce will be hired here too as the Director of Programming. Again, due to the economy, they can only offer Bruce a 50% position, but at CSU, 50% is all we need to get benefits....Hallelujah! If all goes well here, this will be finalized by the end of February and Bruce's EMPLOYEE status will be given greater stability.
So, at this point with 30% as Web Marketing Coordinator and 50% as Director of Programming, he is up to 80% pay. Bruce's desire is to work as the Web Marketing Coordinator full-time, but we haven't any idea how long this may take...a month, 6 months, a year or more.
We are so proud of Bruce for his patience, his persistence and his willingness to do what it takes to keep these excellent opportunities available. And of course, taking care of his family so well :-). We love you Honey...Congratulations!!
